Psychology Today

In my blog on Psychological Sciences, I found Psychology really interesting because it is something really important that can relate to everyone’s lives. In my blog we will learn the scientific study of the human mind and its functions. I believe that if we learn more about how our brain works that we can prevent any mental illnesses.
I choose to talk about this topic because I’ve learned a lot of things I would question myself about. The reason why I would question myself would be because I would notice that one of my family members would act different. As I had a Psychology class in San Francisco State University I understood what were the reasons why they act a certain way. I believe that if we know more about Psychology that it can benefit us in having more knowledge about ourselves and our health because I learned a lot about why we have different behaviors.
While psychological knowledge is often applied to the assessment and treatment of mental health problems, it also directed towards understanding and on solving problems in many human spheres of human activity. Many people wonder how psychologists can study such an intricate, seemly abstract and extremely sophisticated thing. I believe that this is something fascinating because it is something we don’t really hear about and should be heard more of.
In what I have learned in Psychology is that mostly focuses on thoughts, cognition, emotions, memories, and dreams. This is what I am going to be informing my readers about. In the sub-topic that I am going to be talking about is mental illnesses. The are many mental illnesses that can affect our bodies, which it is really important to know this information because some of us might be having some symptoms of  mental illnesses or just want to be informed. These are Psychological disorders that are patterns of behavioral or psychological symptoms that impact multiple areas of life. These disorders create distress for the person experiencing these symptoms. This also can be really helpful if you want to major in psychology because you will learn the basics about the mental illnesses in Psychology.
According to Roxanne Dryden- Edwards MD, she states that mentally healthy adults tend to report the fewest health- related limitations of their routine activities, the fewest full or partially missed days of work, and the healthiest social functioning. This means that if we make time for everything in our lives and make sure we don’t stress about it by not doing things when we can’t, this can help us to be mentally healthy.
